Description
One of the most celebrated poets Lemn Sissay MBE is returning to the University of Huddersfield to give a special lecture as part of the 3rd Annual ‘Finding a Voice’ conference on Tuesday 10 January 2017.
The lecture will be an opportunity to hear how Lemn found his voice through poetry. Finding a voice with children and young people will resonate with your professional interests and career development needs. It will also blend relevant concepts with examples from day-to-day practice and gives an opportunity for you to offer insights from your own experience.
You are invited to attend the lecture, which is 9.30am – 10.30am in Canalside West Lecture Theatre (CWS/10) at the University.
The lecture will be given as part of an innovative teaching and learning experience for final year students on the BA(Hons) Childhood Studies course. As part of a module called Finding a Voice: Children and Young People, students will present a wide range of papers at the conference.
This module is centred on a study of theories and models of voice particularly in conjunction with the UN convention on the rights of the Child: Article 12. In addition to relevant theory we will consider factors such as supporting children and young people to be heard, ethics and culture, international perspectives and many more.
